Ayre Henri, Article 1-1995

Hey McVay, What really bogles the mind are the supposed facts, figures,
and statistics of the story. Crematoria don’t spout flames, can’t reduce
bodies to ash in 20 minutes, Oh and it goes on and on and on. I have
shelves full of books analysing this most unique of all historical events
and the bottom line is that there are simply too many stacked
improbabilities for the thinking person to accept. But it does make a
wonderful story full of the deepest emotions and on the widest screen
possible. And of course it is socially correct to believe the story… so
most people do. Which doesn’t make it literally true any more than the
Easter bunny or Santa Claus is literally true. Believe on dear soul.
Henry.

Wrong. The figures have been in dispute from the time they were first launched.
That is the record. If you are one of those who thrive on mutliple improbabilities
that is your business. In the last ten years enough good research has been
done to put the story where it belongs… in the fiction section. Put your tooth
under your pillow, dear fellow, there’s nothing shameful about believing the
nonsensical.

I can give you dozens of titles to read, all of which I have read (and all of which occupy space on my
bookshelves) but since you are already deeply committed to one point of view you will not read them. But
let’s try anyhow. For a starter read “The Fate of the Jews” by Roberta Strauss Feuerlicht (member of a
prominent Jewish family), Quartet Books (London, Melbourne, New York), 1983, ISBN 0-7043-2448-2. This
is entry-level reality, well-annotated and with bibliography. It is post-WWII material. You should feel
comfortable with it since Ms. Feuerlight does believe in the “holocaust.” But she does report disturbing facts.
This is a serious book which will take you at least a week to read, another week to digest. Thus, in a
fortnight, old chap, agreed?
