Probably sometime the week of 9/3-9/9. Supporters fret over activist's trial PENSACOLA - Supporters say they are afraid a right-wing activist and publisher from Pensacola will not get a fair trial in his native Germany where he is accused of inciting racial hatred. Hans Schmidt, 68, being held in a German prison without bail, was arrested last month in Frankfort and faces a five-year sentence if convicted. He allegedly denies the Holocaust took place and refers to Jews as "contamination" in a German-language newsletter he publishes here but distributed in Germany. "Even his attorney is terrified to talk about the case because it is such a politically sensitive subject," Mark Wolksy, organizer of the Hans Schmidt Defense Committee in Green Brook, NJ said on Wednesday. The German government will not allow supporters to contact Schmidt in prison. ------ Compiled from The Daily Commercial's wire reports.
