Irving's former agent said that "The author typically takes years to write these books. They [Morrow] were content." Morrow claims they never agreed to further extend the due date past June 1, 1992, while Irving claims that the contract was verbally renegotiated. One is almost tempted to say that, since the order was never put in writing, there is no proof for the existence of Irving's renegotiated contract.
