Jean Chretien is a liar.  In October 1990, he said:

"The odds of the GST surviving the next election are no better than
the Mulroney government being re-elected."

In December, 1992, Mr. Chretien said:

"We want to get rid of the GST."

In January, 1997, Canadians are still paying the GST.
