Christie complained Actually, Mr. Lockhart, the quote from Kinsella's "Web of Hate" reads as follows: "Christie waded into a group of Jewish Defence League Members. One JDL member took a swing at the lawyer, narrowly missing his impressive jawline. Shaken, Christie complained ...." (1st HarperPerennial ed. p.92) While acts of violence are not to be condoned, I am sure that reasonable readers of this newsgroup will conclude that there is quite a difference between "taking a swing and narrowly missing" and "kicking ... in the face with a steel-toed boot." But then you knew that, didn't you, Mr. Lockhart? hro ======================= Hilary Ostrov e-mail: hostrov@uniserve.com http://haven.uniserve.com/~hostrov/myssiwyg.html Co-Webmaster - The Nizkor Project http://www.almanac.bc.ca/ From libwca@curly.cc.emory.edu Wed Mar 6 17:16:47 PST 1996 Article: 26355 of alt.revisionism Path: nizkor.almanac.bc.ca!news.island.net!news.bctel.net!news.cyberstore.ca!math.ohio-state.edu!howland.reston.ans.net!vixen.cso.uiuc.edu!newsfeed.internetmci.com!swrinde!cssun.mathcs.emory.edu!news.cc.emory.edu!news.cc.emory.edu!not-for-mail From: libwca@curly.cc.emory.edu (william c anderson) Newsgroups: alt.politics.white-power,alt.discrimination,alt.revisionism,alt.activism Subject: Re: "Liberals," "smacking women around," & George Burdi Followup-To: alt.politics.white-power,alt.discrimination,alt.revisionism,alt.activism Date: 6 Mar 1996 15:47:07 -0500 Organization: Emory University Lines: 28 Message-ID: <4hktkb$peg@curly.cc.emory.edu> References: <4foqdf$p6m@nizkor.almanac.bc.ca> <4h8bd4$2or6@news-s01.ny.us.ibm.net> <4h7s31$4tf@daryl.scsn.net> <4ha1vl$gjv@nizkor.almanac.bc.ca> <1996Mar6.173307.20324@wpg.ramp.net> NNTP-Posting-Host: curly.cc.emory.edu X-Newsreader: TIN [version 1.2 PL2] Xref: nizkor.almanac.bc.ca alt.politics.white-power:21114 alt.discrimination:44202 alt.revisionism:26355 alt.activism:33800 Joe Lockhart (ecdl@wpg.ramp.net) wrote: : "...Christie waded into a group of Jewish Defence League members. : One JDL member took a swing at the lawyer... In other words, Christie wasn't struck at all. For the record, I heartily condemn the JDL member who took a swing at Christie; the incident, however, is hardly comparable to the stomping delivered by Burdi. Lockhart knew that, and decided to conceal the truth in order to make his point. Or is there some other explanation for this puzzling omission, Joe? Bill
