Dear Ms. Dalty,

Thanks for writing on behalf of Mr. Irving. I believe you may have
misunderstood some key points here.

*I was not instructed that tape recordings were not permitted (although
I was told that photographs were not permitted).

*I taped the lecture in full view of Mr. Irving. I sat right in front
of him and had the recorder in plain view. In fact, I had a very
pleasant conversation with my seat mate about my little recorder.

*At not time did Mr. Irving ask for the tape, even after I introduced
myself as a friend of Mr. McCarthy of Nizkor.

*To date, I have not transcribed the contents of the tape. If I do, I
will limit any use to the legally prescribed "fair use" restrictions.

Please feel free to pass this information on to Mr. Irving.

Thank you,

Annie Alpert
