Date: Fri, 1 Mar 1996 09:55:59 -0500 February 28, 1996 Oliver Bode, 29, was arrested upon arrival in Canada today, according to an Associated Press report. He is described as the publisher of a neo-Nazi newspaper in Germany with a long record of hate-crimes convictions there, and is being held pending his deportation hearing. According to Immigration officials, he is considered to be a public danger. "Ernst Zundel, a Toronto-based Nazi sympathizer who denies the Holocaust occurred, acted as counsel for Bode. Zundel said his friend arrived with a suitcase carrying three videos of footage taken from neo-Nazi rallies in Germany. Bode spent several days in Toronto last year helping rebuild Zundel's home after it was damaged in a bomb attack." (AP)
