Report: Israeli planes buzz German ships

Israeli planes reportedly have buzzed German ships patrolling Lebanon 
waters against weapons being smuggled to Hezbollah militants.
       Germany's Der Spiegel reports that the incidents last week have 
provoked questions in German parliament. It says the parliament has also 
found the German mission to Lebanon has fewer rights than promised earlier.
       Germany's Defense Minister Franz Josef Jung is to visit Israel 
and Lebanon this week and Der Spiegel said he will insist on a detailed 
explanation from Israel on why its fighter jets buzzed a German ship and 
why a German naval helicopter was approached by Israeli jets.
       During his Lebanon visit, Jung is expected to ask for explanation 
about that country's wish to limit the activities of the German-led U.N. 
naval mission.
       "This is exactly the sort of incident which I have always said 
would happen and which the government said was impossible," said Guido 
Westerwelle, head of Germany's opposition Liberals party.
       In Israel, Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said he regretted the 
incident and assured a delegation of leading German conservatives in 
Jerusalem that it would not happen again.
