Free speech is not speech we agree with, it is speech we hate.  If it was
anything else, or less, it would be meaningless and useless.  Only cowards
and people who can't articulate their ideas are afraid of speech they hate.
 And only Canadians would let the howls and screams of a vocal minority
take away their freedom of speech.

What about Japan?  Its unemployment rate is lower than the States' and its
immigration policies are among the most strict in the world.  And, if
global competition means we are competing with Third World workers for
scarce jobs, why is it that once they land in Canada they are no longer 
competition for these scarce jobs?  There might be a case for taking in
immigrants with money, but there is no reason for immigrants with none.  
Taking in immigrants with no money and little or no skills, and who can't
speak English, only adds another mouth to feed without increasing the
productivity of the country.  Only when immigrants add to the productivity
of the country do they add to the economic betterment of the country.  Just
stepping off the plane doesn't make you productive.    And with the
"official" unemployment rate around 10 per cent, we owe it to Canadians to
find Canadians jobs before we even think of letting in another immigrant.

When Bill Clinton admitted that he smoked pot, but didn't like it, and
didn't inhale, everyone knew he was making a distinction without a
difference.    It didn't matter if he didn't inhale, by obfuscating the
facts he made himself look like an idiot and a liar.  Now with the
allegations of his sexual appetite for young women becoming more and more
credible, it is only a matter of time before he says "I tried it, but I
didn't cum."

Oh, I don't know, maybe it has something to do with trust.  Maybe you
should ask Mrs. Clinton  if she trusts her husband.  If she doesn't, why

I was born in Canada and English has always been an official language in
Canada.  I don't care how many Chinamen or Iranians or Sikhs move here,
English will always be one of the official languages.  And if it ever gets
to the point where it isn't, I'll leave.

Heh, if that is the way it is with them--that they don't mind each other
going outside the marriage for sex--then that's great.  Although, I suspect
the reason Mrs. Clinton sticks around is because she likes being  First
Lady.  If Bill was a used car salesman, I doubt she would have stayed with

Don Cherry, if you don't know, is a hockey commentator on CBC's Hockey
Night in Canada, and one of Canada's last proud rednecks.  However, he has
mellowed a bit in the last couple of years, he's been seen joking around
with Kids in the Hall's in-your-face homosexual Scott Thompson, and is a
big supporter of Canada's Women's Olympic Hockey Team (which, it is no
secret, has its share of lesbians).  Nonetheless, Don Cherry supports them
with all his heart because they are Canadian and they are hockey players. 
It is also the result of his wife's support for the team (unfortunately,
Mr. Cherry's wife, Rose, died of cancer last year.)  Yet, Don Cherry
consistently calls it as he sees it, and he is still a big supporter of
fighting in the NHL.  This week in his column which runs in the Vancouver
Province newspaper, he was commenting on how disgraced hockey man, lawyer,
and now inmate, Alan Eagleson didn't really want to watch Hockey Night in
Canada on Saturday and listen to Don's views on Mr. Eagleson's recent
conviction.  It seems, Mr. Cherry tells us, that Eagleson wasn't the only
one in the prison who didn't want to watch hockey that night.  Apparently,
because there are so many recent Third World immigrants and refugees in
that prison, the inmates don't watch Hockey Night in Canada on Saturday
nights, they have different viewing habits, and don't pay attention to
Canadian tradition.  So Mr. Cherry concludes  that  Canada's immigration
policies are turning us into "the garbage can of the world."  And Don is
right.  And although Don has a weird way of making this point, and although
I don't care if they do or don't watch hockey, I think we would all rather
they weren't in prison to begin with.   Of course, not all immigrants are
criminals, but perhaps we could pick them better, or, as Don might say, do
a better job of drafting them.

I've been to Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and Italy, as a tourist, and
although most people I met  could speak English, I tried to speak their
language.  Believe me, if I was planning on living there, I would make sure
I knew the language before leaving my native country.

Yes, Bill is human, and we all fall.  And let him who is without sin cast
the first stone.  But the problem with Bill is that he never admits to his
failures, and only obfuscates the facts and offers lame excuses.  I think
more people would have respect for him if he just came clean.

The Royal Bank and the Bank of Montreal have decided to merge.  Great. 
Even less choice, and more concentration.  I thought the free market was
supposed to give us more choice and less concentration.  Yet, things always
seem to be downsized and consolidated, and oligopolies become monopolies.  
Bigger is better?  All this means is that there will be fewer bloodsuckers
sucking even more blood out of us.

I can speak German.  And so can my dad, who came from Germany, but he
speaks English.  As he says, if he wanted to live in a country where
everyone spoke German, he would have stayed in Germany.

When he first stepped off the boat, he spoke enough English to get a job
and raise a family.  He certainly knew enough so that he always had a job
and has never been on welfare or UI.  How many immigrants from Europe, who
came to Canada in the '50s and '60s didn't know any English?  How many of
them weren't skilled tradespeople?  How many of them have ever been on
welfare or UI?  Compare them to today's immigrants and you would wonder
what ever happened to the rugged individualism that built this country.

that they should, at least, speak one of the official languages (English if
they plan to live outside of Quebec and New Brunswick).  That isn't racist.

Did you hear about the gay stalker who wanted to make Steven Spielberg his
love slave?  Apparently, this struggling actor was caught sneaking around
Spielberg's yard, in an attempt to get  Spielberg's attention.  His lover
also says he has a crush on homosexual David Geffen.  He thought he might
get a job with Spielberg if he could just tie him up with duct tape and
handcuffs.  His lover also says he was planning on converting to Judaism,
since all powerful people in Hollywood are Jewish (his words, not mine).

The Canadian Jewish Congress has again gone after one of its own.  This
time it is trying to stop Canadian "Nazi-hunter" Ruth Birn from being
published with Norman Finkelstein, an outspoken critic of Israel. 
"Publish...but don't publish with somebody who's loathed and despised by
the Jewish community," says Bernie Farber of the CJC.  So, is the CJC the
"Jewish community"?  And when does loathing and despising become hate? 
Just because a Jew criticizes the state of Israel and is labeled an
anti-Zionist, does that make them anti-Semitic or anti-Jewish?  Perhaps it
is because Prof. Finkelstein refers to the"Holocaust-studies industry" as
just that, used to divert attention from the repressive policies of Israel.
 Perhaps it doesn't help that Mr. Finkelstein says the Holocaust has been
"seized upon and methodically marketed because it was politically
expedient."  Of course, the CJC and Bernie Farber don't believe in freedom
of expression or thought, so it is natural for them to want to silence
views they don't like.  Only this time they are going after one of their
own.  What heroes!   What cowards.

I was at a party recently and I talked to a Cambodian in his early
twenties.  He came to Canada in his early teens, but has gone back and
visited since.  Sure, he says he doesn't miss the violence of "back home"
yet he has an AK47 here and back in Cambodia.  He also brags about being in
a gang here in Canada.  He has the tattoos and the scars to prove he has
lived a violent life.  Now, I don't know too many of us who could grow up
in a place like Cambodia and not have violent tendencies, but although he
likes Canada for its peace, he has no problems with disturbing that peace
with his gang activities.  At some point he and his friends are going to
have to make a choice between the Canadian way and the Cambodian way.  I
only hope his way doesn't become the Canadian way.

I was talking to a friend of mine, asking him what he thought of Monica
Lewinsky, and he said he really didn't give a shit.   He said he wasn't
American, and as far as he was concerned Clinton could do whatever he
wanted.  He said, "I don't care if he screws up that country or if he fucks
