Marx's Jewish background is *totally irrelevant* to communism.
€ *Das Kapital*, the intellectual source of communism ideology, is a
brilliant structuralist analysis of the historical evolution and dynamics
of economic relations. It is not a plan for revolution, but a work of
economics and philosophy strongly influenced by, and a part of the same
philosophical tradition as Hegel's dialectal philosphy of history and
Darwin's theory of evolution. It is not a work of Jewish philosophy in any
respect except for the irrelevant fact that the author's father was a Jew
who converted to Christianity when Karl Marx, the author, was a seven-year
old. *Das Kapital* is a work that fits into the classical tradition of late
19th century German social pholosophy; it is not a work of Jewish
philosophy, a discipline which had its own traditions and with which Marx
had nothing to do whatsoever.
€ The teachings in *Das Kapital* were converted into a workable
revolutionary philosophy and popularized due to the untiring work of
Friedrich Engels, an upper-class German gentile.

If what you write is true, how do you account for this:

Torah scrolls piled up for
destruction in the Vitebsk
synagogue, one of the
estimated 650 synagogues
that were closed in
the 1920s. Also in Vitebsk,
a show trial was held
against the kheyder,
the traditional Jewish
school, resulting in its
immediate closure.

The majority of Russian Jews support the various Zionist organizations; these
become the first to be liquidated. Zionism is labeled "a bourgeois-clerical
tendency," and thousands of Zionists are exiled to Siberia.

The systematic attack of the Bolshevik government upon all organized
religions also affects Judaism. The Yevsektsii close down synagogues and
kheyders, confiscate religious books and objects, and conduct a campaign
against rabbis, ritual slaughterers and other essential functionaries of
Jewish religious and communal life. If they refuse to resign, they are
arrested and deported.

There, you've said it: "the most powerful Jew in the USSR" What was he? A
member of the Politburo 1930 - 1957 and First Deputy Chairman of the USSR
Council of Ministers 1953 - 57. In other words, a glorified senator. The
people who were calling the shots in Ukraine at the time of famine were
non-Jews like Nikita "Butcher of the Ukraine" Sergeyich Khrushchev.

BULLSHIT! I can accept the 85,000,000 figure because communism was a
uniquely bloody ideology. But to pin this carnage on the Jews is absurd. The
Jews were among the people who were most oppressed by communist doctrines.
Do the names Anatoly Shcheransky or Yuri Orlov mean nothing to you?

The Yevsektsii also campaign against the Hebrew language. In their eyes, Hebrew
is the reactionary language of the Jewish bourgeoisie, whatever its
content, and has to be eliminated in favor of Yiddish, the language of the
Jewish proletariat. Hebrew schools and printing presses are closed.

At the end of the 1920s, Hebrew becomes the only language which is officially
outlawed in the Soviet Union. Jewish religious education is now impossible.
The only permitted expressions of Soviet-Jewish life are secular Yiddish
education, literature, press and theater. They flourish as long
as they are permitted, until the mid 1930s. The newly established Yiddish
schools are very popular at first. But as only few secondary school and
no university courses are in Yiddish, their numbers decline. At the end of the
1930s, they have completely disappeared.

With the almost complete elimination of organizations, Jewish religious and
communal life, the Yevsektsii have become redundant and are
dissolved in 1930.

During the Stalinist purges of the late 1930s, most of
its members are accused of having had "nationalist tendencies," and are
deported or killed. (CONT)

The economic life of the shtetl lies in ruins after the successive
disasters of the First World War, the Civil War and the years of "War
Communism." The New
Economic Policy of 1921 brings some relief as farmers and artisans are once
more allowed to trade their own products, but this policy is reversed with
introduction of the first Five Year Plan in 1928.

The following rapid industrialization and collectivization completely
destroy the socio-economic fabric of shtetl life. Traditional Jewish
occupations like shopkeepers, artisans and traders disappear, and tens of
thousands o Jews have to leave their homes to
work in the new industries.

Because of their relatively high level of education, many Jews find
employment in government services or work as doctors, engineers, managers,
accountants etc. In order to promote agricultural work among Jews, and to
offer a Soviet alternative to Zionism, the government establishes a Jewish
Region in the far-eastern region of Birobidzhan.

But the plan is a failure. The climate is extremely harsh, and the region
is too far from the major centers of Jewish life. The Jewish population
of Birobidzhan reaches its peak with 24 percent in 1937.

The massive migration of Jews out of Belorussia and the Ukraine, and the
radical change in their occupational structure, result in a rapid
assimilation into Soviet society. Yiddish is more and more replaced by
Russian and the number of mixed marriages rises to almost a third in the
1930s. In the lifetime of one generation, the Russian Jewish community has
undergone fundamental change.

> Is it any wonder that Jews react hysterically whenever the
> Jewish-Communist connection is discussed?

They react hysterically, and rightly so. Even if some Jews were
instrumental in the installation of the Bolshevik government in Russia,.
the communist system, as the above states, was inimical to Jewish
traditions, Jewish life, and Jewish identity. Communism can no more be
considered a Jewish agenda than it can be considered a brown-haired
peoples' agenda.

> After all, how does their role
> in Communism play when juxtiposed with the Jew's fraudulent propaganda
> image themselves as perpetually inoffensive, honest, and unjustly
> persecuted "victims" of evil gentiles?

Many Russian Jews embranced communism during its first years because it
appeared to be a utopian ideology above such behavior as pogroms and vulgar
anti-Semitism. Communism, as developed by Stalin and his associates quickly
evolved into an ideology more anti-Semitic than anything the Jews had
experienced under czarism.

> How would the Jew's "holocaust" be
> viewed if their role in Communism became widely known? Consider the facts
> and answer these questions honestly for your self.

The Jewish role in communism was primarily limited to the first years of
Bolshevism in Russia. Secondarily, some Jewish urban intellectuals like
Rosa Luxemburg and Karl Liebknecht became involved in utopion communist
movements in Germany, but it was their committedness to revolutionary
change, not their Jewishness, which was relevant here. In both Russia and
Germany, not to mention other countries, such as Czechoslovakia, which had
active communist
parties during the interwar years, Jews were a minority both within the
country and within the local communist movement. Communist Jews were also a
minority among the local Jewish minorities who tended to be lower and upper
middle class shopkeepers, entrepreneurs, and professionals - just the
segments of society whose means of livelihood would be most affected by the
implementation of a communist revolution.

The activities of a few thousand idealistic, urban, intellectual Jews
within the communist movement, a movement led and dominated by gentiles
such as Nikolai Lenin and Josif Stalin in Germany, Clara Zetkin (née
Eissner), Franz Mehring, and Walter Ulbricht in the Weimar Republic, in *no
way* justify scouring Europe from one end to the other to identify,
concentrate, and murder Jews. Nazi ideology considered Jews to be an
"inhuman race" whose ultimate sin was to have "swindled" Aryans by pushing
on them a religion in which they worshipped a Jew and "effeminized" Aryan
barbarity by emphasizing values such as love and mercy. This is the reason
that the Nazi government wanted to root out and destroy Jews and Jewish

Neither I nor anyone else has ever maintained that there were no Jews
involved in Communism. Communism is an urban, intellectual, activist
ideology and Jews have tended to be well represented among urban,
intellectual activists. What I do maintain is that:

1) Your list contains errors, imbecilities, and contradictions
2) There have always been many, many more gentiles involved with Communism
than there have been Jews.

As to errors, imbecilities, and contradictions:

> ŠGus Hall (real name, Arvo Mike Halberg),Š
1. His real name is Arvo Kustaa Hällberg, and he is not a Jew, but a
Minnesta-born Finnish-American.

Gus Hall, son of a Finnish immigrant, and chairman of the CPUSA since 1959,
has stated that, "We made a very calculated decision that organization of
the basic industries was possible and necessary. We started the whole
movement based on the conclusion that the labor movement could not defend
the interests of workers until basic industries were organized."

Hall, originally Arvo Hallberg, is descended from Finnish immigrants.
"Hall, then a member of the CPUSA and the Young Communist League, went to
work as a welder at Truscon Steel in Youngstown, Ohio. Later, he worked at
Youngstown Sheet and Tube. Before then, Hall had worked in the logging
camps and iron mines of Northern Minnesota. He would become a machinist
mate in the U.S. Navy during WW II, in charge of an engine repair depot in
Guam. ...'We started setting up rank and file committees in the mill -
union committees,' Hall said.

'Some led important strikes, like the famous strike at Republic Steel in
Warren, Ohio led by mainly Finnish-American workers. ...The first big break
in the atmosphere of repression came with the passage of the Wagner Act in
1935 which guaranteed workers the right to organize and strike. The Supreme
Court upheld the law in 1937. 'The situation changed totally overnight,'
said Hall. ...About the same time Hall made the front page of the
Youngstown Vindicator - again. 'I had run for city council as a Communist,'
he said. 'Then, in order to get a job I changed my name from Arvo Halberg
to Gus Hall. Then I decied to do it legally. But when I went to city hall I
found out it cost five dollars - and I didn't have it.'

..Denise Winebrenner, People's Weekly World, October 15, 1994.

The nickname "Gus" derives from his second
name "Kustaa", the Finnish version of "Gustav", the name of a Swedish king,
Gustaphus Adolphus, closely associated with the Protestant Reformation in
Sweden-Finland and hardly a name that a Jewish child would be given [name
giving is serious business in Scandinavia]; while the -berg in Hällberg is
a typical element in Swedish names, like (Charles) Lindbergh, (Anita)
Ekberg, (Raoul)
Wallenberg, or (Ingmar) Bergman.

2. Imbecilities:
> "Alger Hiss Case": Hiss, although a communist, was one of the most
influential men
> in the State Department and an advisor to FDR. He was a protege of Jewish
> Court Justice, Felix Frankfurter. Despite Frankfurter's court appearance as a
> character witness, Hiss was convicted of perjury and sentenced to five years.

You are implying that Alger Hiss carries some "Jewish" taint by virtue of
his mentor having been Supreme Court Justuce Felix Frankfurter. By this
imbecilic logic everyone who has had an influential Jewish teacher or
sponsor and been involved with comnmunism at some point in his life
exemplifies the
"heavy involvement of Jews with Communism".

> Not coincidentally, all three of these former communists were married to Jews.

You are implying that being married to a Jew exemplifies the "heavy
involvement of Jews with Communism" Communism".

3. Contradictions:
> "Fuchs-Gold Spy Ring": Atomic scientist, Klaus Fuchs, (not a Jew), was
brought to
> America at the personal instigation of Albert Einstein.

Einstein was a Jew. So if some Jews were spying for the Communists, others
were working for somebody else.

Spying for the Communists during and immediately after WW II is not as
unpatriotic a deed as is it is often made to be. The USA and the USSR were
allies against a common enenemy, Nazi Germany, and many Americans, not just
those of Jewish background who, of course, ere concerned about the genocide
of their co-religionists in Europe - were interested in doing anything
possible to assure a Soviet victory. With the post-war souring of
American-Soviet relations, many Americans, once again not all of them Jews,
as the Alger Hiss case demonstrates, did not desire to live in a world with
only one nuclear-armed superpower. They were willing to conduct espionage
on behalf of the USSR to ensure that the United States would not have a
monopoly on the atomic bomb and thus be the unchallenged world policeman
and superpower. There is a certain logic in their behavior, and it can be
explained as at least partially motivated by a kind of idealistic
patriotism. Note that President Ronald Reagan offered to make SDI
technology freely available to the USSR for much the same considerations
during the 1980s.

Now, let's consider some of the non-Jews that have been involved with Communism:
