According to Rudolf Höß, the commandant of Auschwitz:

..While I was away on camp-related business, Captain Fritzsch, on his
own initiative, employed a gas for the killing of these Russian POWs. He
crammed the Russians into individual cells in the basement [of Block 11]
and while using gas masks he thre the Cyclon B gas into the cells, thereby
causing their immediate deaths. The gas called Cyclon B was supplied by
the firm of Tesch and Stabenow and was used constantly for insect and
rodent control. We always had a large supply of gas canisters available.
At first only employees of the firm Tesch and Stabenow handled this poison
gas, a prussic acid preparation, under the strictest safety measures. Later
on some members of the Medical Coprs were trained at the firm to carry out
disinfection procedures, and it was these medics who then carried out
disinfection and pest control. During Eichmann's next visit I reported all
this to him, about how the Cyclon B was used, and we decided that for the
future mass annihilations we would use this gas." (_Death Dealer_, pp.29-30.)

Sounds like Höß and Eichmann, based on the results of Fritzsch's
"experiment," decided that homicidal gassing with Zyklon B would be used
as the method of mass murder at Auschwitz.

And which, by employing a few basic sanitation measures like regular
bathing and clean clothes and bedding, is easily controlled. Yet the Nazis
never employed these basic santitaion measures. Why? Could it be that the
Auschwitz SS really didn't give a hoot if prisoners came down with typhus?
Fancy that.

Their _own_ health, yes, which was why prisoners who came into regular
contact with the Auschwitz SS -i.e. office clerks and Sonderkommando,
enjoyed a higher standard of living than the average prisoner. Other than
that the Auschwitz SS were criminally negligent about the health of their

The prisoners' hair was shaved so that it could be put to "industrial" uses.

According to Pohl's February 6, 1943, report on the textile _Aktion_ up to
that time, 3 tons of women's hair had been collected. According to Dr.
Andrzej Strzlecki, of the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum, "in
instructions issued on January 4 and 11, 1943, the administrative
authorities of 11 concentration camps were directed to deliver the hair to
the following German firms: Alex Zink Filzfabrik AG in Roth, near
Nuremberg; Paul Reinmann in Mieroszow, in the Sudenten (Freidland Bez.
Breslau); and Färberi Forst AG, in Forst on the Luzycka Nysa (Neisse)
River. One kg (2.2. pounds) of hair was worth 0.50 Reichmark (RM; about
$1.09)." (Cf. Hilberg, _Destruction_, p.615; Gutman, _Anatomy_, p.260.)

Perhaps Moron would then explain why the hair of the women (and not the
men) who were immediately gassed on arrival was cut off? Obviously, since
they were not going to enter the camp, why would the Nazis want to cut,
wash, store their hair for health reasons?

> The Soviets could very well

Photographs taken upon the liberation of Auschwitz show, for example,
quanties of women's hair, as well as bolts of cloth made from human hair,
were found at Auschwitz. Additionally, Hilberg writes that the "Soviet
investigation commission" found "seven tons of hair" in the tannery at
Auschwitz. (Cf. Sweibocka, _Auschwitz: a history in photographs_,
pp.162,211; Hilberg, _Destruction_, p.615, 632.)

It is worth noting that amount of hair shaved from the Hungarian Jews
deported to Auschwitz during Aktion Höß would have come to about 21,400
kg. That only 6,900 kg were found when the camp was liberated implies that
the other 14,500 kg were shipped from Auschwitz. According to Dr. Andrzej
Strzlecki, of the Auschwitz-Birkenau State Museum, 11 concentration camps,
including Auschwitz, were directed to deliver the hair to German firms.
Given this is was therefore likely that the "missing" 14,500 kg of hair
from Aktion Höß was shipped to German firms for industrial use. (Cf,
Gutman, _Anatomy_, p.260.)

The shaving of KL prisoners' hair wasn't for health purposes. It was so
the hair could be made into "industrial felt or spun into yarn" etc. and
to help make it easier to identify escaped prisoners:

To the Commandants of the Concentration Camps
Arb., Au., Bu., Da., Flo., Gr.Ro., Lu., Maut/Gu., Na., Nie., Neu.,
Rav., Sahs., Stutth., Mor., SS SL Hinzert.

SS Obergruppen fuhrer Pohl, Chief of the SS
Wirtschafts-Verwaltungshauptamt has ordered that the hair of concentration
camp prisoners is to be put to use. Hair is to be made into industrial
felt or spun into yarn. Woman's hair is to be used in the manufacture of
hair-yarn socks for 'U'-boat crews and hair-felt foot-wear for the

It is therefore ordered that the hair of female prisoners be disinfected
and stored. Men's hair can only be put to use if it is longer than 20 mm.
SS Obergruppen fuhrer Pohl therefore agrees for an intial trial period to
the growing of the prisoners hair to a length of 20 mm before it is cut.
Long hair could facillitate escape and to avoid this the camp commandants
may have a middle parting shaved in the prisoners' hair as a
distinguishing mark, if they think it is necessary.

It is planned to planned to set up a hair processing workshop in one of
the concentration camps. Further details as to the delivery of the
accumulated hair will follow.

The total monthly amount of male and female hair is to be reported to this
office on the 5th of every month beginning from September 5, 1942.

Because shaving KL prisoners' hair wasn'tr intended as a policy to improve
prisoners' health.

The hair question is resolved by the statement of Sonderkommando member
Alter Fajnzylberg, which can be found on p. 124 of Pressac's "Auschwitz:
Technique and Operation of the Gas Chambers." Fajnzylberg was one of the
very few surviving SK members to have been in Auschwitz from near the very
beginning. And he tells us there were indeed changes in procedure.

Fajnzylberg made a point of mentioning that when the massive shipments
of Hungarians started arriving in the spring/summer of 1944, they were not
shaved. (My hypothesis is that there were simply too many to allow this to
be done.) His exact words:

"I believe I must add that the Hungarian Jews who were gassed in 1944
entered the gas chambers without having their hair shaved."

His explict mention of time carries a logical implication: that because he
carefully noted that certain _specific_ victims were not shaved, he intends
to draw a distinction between these victims and the earlier ones. He does
not explicitly say what that distinction is, but there is a very natural
and obvious first choice: the earlier ones _were_ shaved. This is based on
the normal rules of communication where people are somewhat lazy - they will
not bother to go through things which they expect a good-faith listener to
be able to pick up by implication.
Using the normal rules of reading and interpreting text, this witness is
therefore telling us that things started out one way with the hair and ended
up another. So if there is one witness who says "shaved" and another who
says "not shaved," this third witness explains how they may both be giving
true and accurate accounts of what they saw. They only _seem_ to contradict
each other. Although there is not anything explicit in the testimony to
indicate the time, you now have a source external to the two apparently
contradictory accounts that warns you of the possibility that they _could_,
at least, be from different times, and so you cannot _definitely_ conclude
they are contradictory.

Here is one other excerpt from his statement:

"At Birkenau, the Sonderkommando was locked up during the arrival of the
victims and their entry into the gas chamber.

"This rule was not however always applied."

He says that locking up was usually done, but there were exceptions. Again,
the SS were not perfectly consistent from day to day....

Moron is, as far as I can determine, an anti-Semite engaged in blatant and
offensive anti-Semitism, Nazi apologia, and Holocaust denial. Moron
generally conducts himself with such a complete lack of intellectual and
factual integrity that there seems to be no point in taking the time to
read and respond other than to point out his vile behavior. For detailed
and documented evidence of this, please peruse DejaNews and visit the
Nizkor Project at:

But what else should one expect from a lying anti-Semite who holds wacko
beliefs, is intellectually depraved, hasn't the slightest clue regarding
Supreme Court decisions, or what constitutes a dud at the box-office? For
evidence of this please see:

evil passes not through states, nor between classes, nor between
political parties--but right through every human heart--and all
human hearts." -- Alexander Solzhenitsyn, "The Gulag Archipelago"
