Ernst Zündel on Censorship
Ernst Zündel appears to be pro-censorship when a film or video,
in his opinion, maligns the German people. However, he is decidedly
anti-censorship when the subject of the potential censorship is his own
material.
- ANTI-CENSORSHIP: The
Zündelsite home page
(as published to UseNet by a Zündel supporter)
- In 1996, the Zündelsite argues that "...a truly
democratic society does not need to fear, suppress and persecute an
alternate view of history..."
- PRO-CENSORSHIP: The Holocaust miniseries.
- In 1980, Zündel urges Canadian authorities to enforce anti-hate
laws and to ban the television miniseries "Holocaust":
By stopping the Zionist 'six million' swindle, we
can also stop the spread of Zionist tyranny and terror throughout the
world. The following authorities in Canada, however, have not seen fit
to enforce the law by stopping the "Holocaust" hate message:
Prime Minister Clark...
- ANTI-CENSORSHIP: The Zündelsite's
First Electronic Rebuttal
- In 1996, the Zündelsite refers to "hate laws"
(the same laws?) as "designed to snap around good people's hearts
and minds like hand cuffs," and asserts: "Not since the
Salem witch hunts has there been such brutal persecution."
- PRO-CENSORSHIP: "Ban Schindler's List!"
- In 1994, Zündel explained that the movie Schindler's
List is anti-German propaganda, and that it should be banned.
| For the record, Nizkor supports the
EFF's
Blue Ribbon Anti-Censorship Campaign,
we do not believe that Zündel or any other Holocaust-denier
should be censored, and we oppose the application of "anti-hate-speech" laws to the Internet. |

Ingrid Rimland and Ernst Zündel have been
offered
the opportunity to present a rebuttal to these pages. No response has
been received, to date (October 10, 1999).
